Do you offer transportation?
YES! Currently we have free transportation for students at the following stops: Fulton Prep, Reseda HS, Portola MS, Woodland Hills Academy, Cleveland HS, Sutter MS, Canoga Park MS, Canoga Park HS, and Chatsworth HS.
What Electives do VAPA Magnet Students take?
Our students typically take electives in the arts. We offer Theater, Visual Arts, Filmmaking, TV Broadcating, Orchestra, Band, Jazz Band, Technical Theatre, Creative Writing, Yearbook, Dance, and more.
Do you offer Honors level classes?
Yes! We typically have several honors strands for our gifted students. Teachers differentiate their curriculum for our Honors students. We also offer higher math pathways for our gifted math learners.
Hale is my school of residence. Do I still need to apply to the magnet separately?
YES! All interested families MUST complete the LAUSD e choices application. Living in the area only guarantees you a spot at Hale Charter Academy, not VAPA Magnet. You can apply to Hale Visual And Performing Arts Magnet HERE.
Is Hale VAPA Magnet a gifted magnet?
Hale VAPA Magnet is an inclusive magnet. This means that we accept students at almost all levels and value the contributions of all students. We typically have many gifted students and many talented students, as well. Likewise, we offer many honors strands of classes. However, we welcome all students. You will not need to submit any records of giftedness to apply or be accepted to our school and there aren't any auditions either. Welcome!
